BJ's Wholesale Club sells diesel at 89 of its 202 U.S. gas stations — about 44% of the network — spread across 21 of the 22 states where BJ's pumps fuel. Diesel averages $5.071 a gallon at those clubs, roughly $1.231 more than the $3.840 BJ's charges for regular unleaded. The cheapest BJ's diesel in the country right now is $4.399 at Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, while the highest is $5.479 at Chambersburg in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania — a $1.080 swing across the same chain. Delaware is the only state where BJ's runs gas stations but sells no diesel at any of them. BJ's diesel prices nationwide have climbed about $0.481 over the past month, from $4.590 a month ago.

Where BJ's diesel is not available
Diesel is the one grade BJ's doesn't pump everywhere. Three gaps are worth knowing before you drive out to a club.
Delaware (3 clubs) has BJ's gas stations, but not one of them posts a diesel price.
In these states the diesel pump is hit-or-miss — two BJ's in the same metro can differ. The thinnest coverage is Connecticut (1 of 11), North Carolina (1 of 10), Maryland (2 of 10).
BJ's only operates fuel stations in 22 states, concentrated on the East Coast. In the remaining 28 states there is no BJ's diesel because there is no BJ's gas station — the whole West Coast and Mountain West included.
What to know about BJ's diesel
It's ordinary ULSD, sold to members. BJ's pumps standard on-road ultra-low-sulfur diesel — the same fuel every U.S. highway station has sold since 2010. It's unbranded, bought from the same regional suppliers that stock the name-brand stations nearby, and like the gasoline it isn't Top Tier certified. Any 2007-or-newer diesel vehicle is built for exactly this fuel.
Diesel doesn't follow the gasoline price. It's taxed at a different federal and state rate and trades on its own market, which is why the gap against regular — currently about $1.231 a gallon widens in winter with heating-oil demand and narrows again later in the year.
